Chapter 71 : A Big Misunderstanding
“Mo Mo, the most important thing for you now is to do well on the exam,” Butler Zhou tried to console her. Then he glanced at his watch again. “I’m informed of the time your exam will end. When it’s over, I will call you and tell you about Young Master Wei’s situation.”
Deep down, Tan Mo had a plan of her own, but she allowed Butler Zhou to comfort her. “Okay, don’t worry, I will definitely pass the exam. I must go to Beijing University to be with Little Uncle.”
Wei Zhiqian was still in graduate school at Beijing University. Although he wasn’t required to be at school every day, he still had to attend some classes personally.
If Tan Mo got accepted at Beijing University, she would be able to spend time with Wei Zhiqian.
Butler Zhou was relieved upon hearing Tan Mo’s words.
The thought of Tan Mo going to Beijing University and being with Wei Zhiqian made him smile.
He felt his worries lessen about Wei Zhiqian’s condition.
Not long after hanging up, Tan Mo slid the phone inside her bag, then put the bag in the locker. She brought only the things she needed for the exam.
A big clock hung just above the blackboard so everyone would be mindful of the time.
As soon as the exam officially started, Tan Mo began to concentrate on answering questions as fast as she could.
Once done, she quickly checked her answers again.
As she got older, her memory got better.
Her memory at present was more eidetic compared to when she was younger.
Therefore, she managed to answer all items quickly and was able to double-check them.
As soon as she was done checking, Tan Mo handed in her test paper.
The invigilator had a surprised look on her face. Then, she checked the time. There was more than half an hour left.
Wasn’t Tan Mo going to check a few more times?
Was the college entrance examination a piece of cake for her?
Despite this, the invigilator didn’t say anything. She let Tan Mo leave after receiving her paper.
Tan Mo heaved a sigh of relief.
Tan Mo took her bag and ran to the school gate.
Xu Mingzhen wasn’t expecting Tan Mo to come out early. However, she would walk to the gate from time to time.
The school gate was already crowded with people. Xu Mingzhen could only stand on a corner, barely able to see past the crowd.
At this time, Xu Mingzhen heard the people in front say, “Oh, who came out so early?”
“Was she able to answer all questions? Perhaps the exam was too difficult for her and decided to give up?”
“Even if she doesn’t know the rest, she can guess. It won’t be that hard to circle and check.”
Xu Mingzhen was wondering which student they were talking about.
After a while, she saw Tan Mo coming out of the school gate.
“Mom!” Tan Mo ran over anxiously.
“Mo Mo, why did you come out so early?” Xu Mingzhen asked in surprise.
She thought it impossible that Tan Mo gave up. She must have finished all the exams early.
“Were you able to answer everything?” Xu Mingzhen asked.
Tan Mo dragged Xu Mingzhen away and said, “Of course. The questions were quite easy. I checked everything before submitting it to the invigilator.”
Tan Mo and Xu Mingzhen were still within earshot, so some parents heard what Tan Mo had just said.
“Oh, if the test questions this time are easy, the passing score must be higher.”
“Yes. If the exam is easy and everyone knows how to do it, they can only rely on the different subjects.”
If the questions were difficult, the parents would be worried.
If the questions were easy, the parents would still be worried.
“Mom, do you know which hospital my Little Uncle is admitted to?” Tan Mo asked Xu Mingzhen worriedly.
“At Chutian Hospital.” Butler Zhou immediately called Xu Mingzhen when he got to the hospital.
But he didn’t say anything about Yuan Keqing so as not to worry Xu Mingzhen while Tan Mo was taking the exam. Everything would be discussed after the exam.
Even if, out of kindness, Tan Mo would cover up for Yuan Keqing, Butler Zhou would definitely expose everything.
Xu Mingzhen remembered and said, “How did you find out about Wei Zhiqian’s situation?”
“Before the exam, Yuan Keqing called me,” Tan Mo admitted.
That b*tch!” Xu Mingzhen was really mad.
All these years, Yuan Keqing had never done anything good.
Yuan Keqing knew how important this exam was for Tan Mo, yet she chose to still tell her cousin about such stressful news.
Was she intentionally distracting Tan Mo?
If Yuan Keqing were in front of her right now, she would slap her!
No wonder Yuan Keqing left!
“It’s okay, Mom. I answered all questions,” Tan Mo assured Xu Mingzhen. “I didn’t find the questions difficult anyway. Besides, I want to go to the hospital to see my Little Uncle, so I answered all items as fast as I could.”
Xu Mingzhen knew how much Tan Mo wanted to go to Beijing University, so she hated Yuan Keqing even more.
“Let’s go.” Xu Mingzhen couldn’t do anything anyway. Tan Mo had already submitted her paper. “The RV is too big. It isn’t convenient to drive on the road. Let’s take our car to the hospital.”
They came to the testing site in their own car in the morning.
Xu Mingzhen talked to the driver of the RV first, and Butler Zhou’s assistant then took Tan Mo to Chutian Hospital.
By the time the exam was over, Tan Mo was already on her way to the hospital.
The parents picked up their children after the exam.
However, the expressions on the students’ faces didn’t look good.
“How was your exam? I just heard a student say that the exam was quite easy. She actually finished early.”
“What? She had probably given up and submitted her paper. The exam was so hard. I don’t know what the teacher who came up with the questions was thinking. Why were they so difficult?”
Some students had wet eyes when they came out. “I’m done! I couldn’t believe it! The exam was so difficult!”
The parents had a puzzled look on their faces.
Tan Mo had no idea the confusion her comment had caused.
She and Xu Mingzhen finally arrived at Chutian Hospital. When they got out of the car, they saw Butler Zhou approaching.
“I just received a call from my assistant saying that you were heading here.” Butler Zhou took the initiative to explain.
“Butler Zhou, how is Little Uncle?” Tan Mo asked worriedly.
Troubled, Butler Zhou pursed his lips and said in a low voice, “Young Master Wei suffered from a gunshot wound, and he is still in the operating room.”
“Who would dare to do such a thing in China?” Tan Mo exclaimed.
“It was at the border,” Butler Zhou said in a low voice. “I don’t know how the word got out, but the forces at the Southeast Asian border learned about Young Master Wei’s whereabouts. This matter is still under investigation, and we still have to wait for Young Master Wei to wake up.”
At present, Butler Zhou didn’t know the specifics.
Even if he did, it wouldn’t be appropriate for him to tell Tan Mo.
“Now, only the Old Master and the Old Madam, as well as the Master and Madam are here. The rest of the Wei family still doesn’t know what happened to Young Master Wei,” Butler Zhou told Tan Mo and Xu Mingzhen.
So, apart from them, only Tan Mo and Xu Mingzhen knew.
Xu Mingzhen was shocked. Fortunately, she didn’t say anything about it, not even to Tan Wenci.
It seemed that Wei Zhiqian’s parents and the Old Master and Madam suspected that their relatives were involved with what happened to Wei Zhiqian.
